Module 2 | Surf Psychology

They say a game is often won and lost in the mind. And the same is true with surfing. A session can be epic or terrible before you’ve even entered the water. The way a surfer focuses their thoughts, their attitude, and their level of confidence, all has a huge impact on the level of enjoyment and stoke that a surfer will feel every time they paddle out. Those hesitations when a wave jacks up, the fear when a big set comes rolling towards them, or the panic when a surfer is tossed around under the water, these feelings are all generated in the mind. Understanding the mind and the power that it has over a surfer’s ability, both in and out of the water, is a game changer. And one of the critical elements of surfing success.
