Module 5 | Surf Skate Foundations
For a surfer, recreating the feelings and actions of surfing in the water on land is a game changer. A two-hour surf session might only account for a few minutes of actual surfing. This limited time makes it hard to really understand the way that we are moving and interacting with our board and the wave. This is one of the reasons why progress is so slow in surfing. By using a surf skate, a surfer can simulate surfing on that. They can identify and break bad habits that would otherwise haunt them in the surf. They can work on building good technique, and through repetition, a surfer can embed a new motor pattern that can then be taken into the water.
